The CYPHER

The "Cypher" is many musicians, especially rapper and beat boxers, gather together and jam. Everything is inprovised on the spot.

This movement started in New York in mid 80's and came to Japan later in late 90's. The "Japan Cypher" has become popular very recently.
I sometimes go join the cypher when I feel bored staying my home.

AND EXPRESS MY FEELING WITH BEEEEEEAT!!!

This is what I recorded recently on AZABU street. Check this out!!

Voice in Mind

I made a new song. As you know from the title, I make sounds

with only VOICE. Of course, I use a lot of effects in the CUBASE VST

plug in but original sound is all from my voice. The concept of this song

is "dilemma".

What I express here is twoconflicts that disturbe what I want to

think or do. I really don't knowwhat they are. I am shouting in both low tone

and high tone in the song. heck this out!

The list of parks in TOKYO.

If you are musitian. You definitely need a place to practice.
Of course you can practice at your house, if you are pianist
or guitarist. But if you are saxophonist or drummer, you can
not play intruments at your house. I am drummer, and I always
practice in Yoyogi park. Yoyogi park is the best if you, musician,
want to practice playing music. However, there are more parks in
Tokyo than you think.

This entry is for the musicians who want to know which park is available
to play their instruments.

1, Shiba Park

2, Shinjuku-Goen

3, Arisugawa park

4, Kiba park

5, Senjidai park

Tokyo vs Kyoto

Tokyo and Kyoto...

East capital and west capital...

Which do you think is a real Japan?

It is sure that both are part of Japan. But what I am asking here is that which seems more like Japan in terms of beauty.
I think Kyoto have preserved a lot of Japanese treasure which keeps Kyoto city aesthetic and consistent such as old architecture, temples, shrines, food and lots of nature.
I think it is important for people, mainly local people, to preserve their own city in order to protect Japanese beauty
that Japanese people have built up over thousands of year.
How about Tokyo? Although it seems, of course, convenient and efficient, it is incoherent as we see from the appearance
. We can not see any of scenery Edo people was seeing.
That's what I wondered on the train today...

TUJ Film Festival in 2007

We finally finished a TUJ film festival 2007!!

Through this course, I learnt a lot of things about film. What we did in this course were, basically, gathering people for entry, evaluating films of students, putting subtitles with a software called Final Cut Pro, and finally, presenting those films. Especially, I put much effort into making subtitles and correcting them. I don’t remember how many times we checked and corrected them over and over. Since I am not native English speaker, I had to have my translation checked by native speakers. The expression of English and Japanese is sometimes totally different, even if we mean to say the same thing. So I tried hard to make them more natural and smooth.
The advantage of this course for me was that I learnt how to put the subtitles with Final Cut Pro. It made my motivation about film higher than I expected before taking this course. Also, it was helpful to put subtitles of my film in another class. Overall, I was really satisfied with this class.

incoherent city TOKYO

Donald Richie says, in "TOKYO the Impermanent Capital", that Tokyo looks like western in its appearance, but the city function is completely different. He says Tokyo is more incoherent, incongruous and arbitrary than Westerns think. In a modern Western city, many shops are welded together as a unit. But in Tokyo, these shops are all independent and unattached to the other. I think the same way with him. Sometimes, Tokyo makes me feel out of place like foreigner first coming to Japan. Because there are few places we can have a rest and relax. It is sure that Tokyo is really convenient when you have something to do with your friends, familly, boyfriends. But if you are alone and have nothing to do, it is useless and wasteful to be in Tokyo. For me, I would rather sleep and play on the green bed than play around concrete jungle such as Roppngi, Shibuya, Shinnjuku. There are many big parks in Tokyo like Yoyogi Park, Sinnjiku Gyoenn, and Hibiya Park. However, small parks are getting declined year by year for the construction of new buildings. In Nishiazabu, 2 parks were already closed this year. I think this is terrible situation. This decline of parks deprives children of their playground. As a result, they end up playing inside like videogame, TV, Internet.

So, I think Tokyo has to have more green area.
